Iridology & Other Quackeries

Dear "Niece-of-a-Scam-Artist":

As one great people observer once put it, "There is a sucker born every minute"... The practice of "Iridology" is complete 100% fakery, and should be outlawed, for it always separates fools from their money, and sometimes causes unsuspecting persons to delay seeking legitimate medical care.

The Iridologist has no special education, certainly no doctorate, and usually if you ask long and harshly enough, you will find that the iridologist was mowing lawns and trimming hedges just last month. The supposed way these quacks operate is to look through a magnifying lens at your iris, and claim certain health problems exist based upon the freckles and contours of the iris anatomy. There is no truth to this, and the iridologist uses the old trickery of asking general questions then latching on to specifics as you converse with them... As with all forms of pseudo-medicine, these villains prey upon people who are unsophisticated, who want a simple fix, and who lack the ability to discern a real practitioner from a con artist...
